In the December quarter, buyer confidence experienced a notable surge. According to the report, 23% of those planning to buy property said the current interest rate environment was boosting their confidence – a significant increase from 17% in the previous quarter. Western Australia and Queensland led the charge, with confidence among buyers rising from 16% to 30% in WA, and from 16% to 27% in QLD.
What’s more, excitement is trending upwards. The report found that 37% of buyers were excited about their purchase plans – up from 33% last quarter. And here’s an empowering twist: 40% of prospective buyers now intend to purchase property on their own, with Gen Z leading this movement at a remarkable 51%.
Australians remain steadfast in their belief that homeownership is the key to achieving the Great Australian Dream. The survey revealed these top reasons for buying property:
- 62% view it as a way to build long-term financial security or wealth.
- 54% see it as preparation for life stages, such as starting a family or retirement.
- 46% believe homeownership is a strong investment strategy.
While the home-buying journey isn’t without its hurdles, prospective buyers are now better equipped to tackle them, according to the report.
